Birkett Lane Prescribed Burn

The Birkett Lane prescribed burn was conducted on April 25th 2019. The burn was completed by Lands and Forests Consulting for the Grand River Conservation Authority. The Purpose of the prescribed burn is to assist in part with other measures to open the site back up and remove woody competition from limiting grass ground coverage. The process is intended to restore and maintain an open grassland ecosystem creating wildlife habitat for a variety of species in need of this particularly rare ecosystem.
